At the very heart of our name, Fyvie, lies a personal and deeply meaningful story that resonates profoundly with our founder, Kath.

Fyvie, a small but picturesque Scottish town, was a place she visited often during her childhood, closely situated near to where one side of her family’s roots proudly stretches back to the Northeastern regions of Scotland, encompassing Fraserburgh and extending further up to Shetland. Growing up with this strong sense of connection to her family and to places filled with rich meaning, Kath learned early on that there is far more to life than simply accumulating money. In Fyvie, she discovered true wealth found not in material possessions, but in the deep connections, warmth, and profound sense of belonging that only a true home can provide.

As an immigrant and business owner, Kath views the name Fyvie through a unique lens—one that has been shaped by her own journey of venturing into the unknown and building something truly new from the ground up.

When broken into two components, Fy and Vie, the name takes a noticeably different path.

Fy—an alternate spelling of Fi (Financial Independence)—is a nod to the empowerment that comes with truly owning your financial future, much like the resilient small business owners and dedicated clients that we serve, who are braving new challenges and actively building their own paths.

Vie, the French word for life, beautifully reflects the spirit of living fully and passionately with purpose - a principle that Kath has embraced not only as a woman in financial services, but as the leader of a team composed of driven and compassionate women who share the vision.
